Leap Into Literacy 2020

On February 29th 2020, The Muskingum County Literacy Council, in partnership with The Muskingum County Library System, celebrated the launch of the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library at the John McIntire Library with our Leap into Literacy event. Families and Community organizations alike turned out to enjoy read alongs, face paintings, The Cat in the Hat, BARD, a presentation with Deputy Whiteman and K-9 unit Panzer from the Muskingum County Sheriff Department, reading to shelter dogs, a bunny from We Love Pets, and therapy dog, Hamish, and many more family friendly activities.

102 attendees signed their children up for the Ohio Governor's Imagination Library, which will send their children a free book each month, from birth to age 5, during the event. Signups are ongoing and can be done through our website, or by calling any of the Muskingum County Library System's branches.

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to all attendees, supporters, volunteers, and donors who have worked so hard to make this project a reality and a success. We could not have done this with without you! We are truly lucky to have such a wonderful community backing us!

Please enjoy the following pictures and video of the event. I know we had such a great time seeing our project come to fruition and look forward to watching our community reap the benefits and grow from this amazing program!
